FAQ
How do I join?
Joining Alpine Club is as simple as joining the GroupMe and filling out a member form! We have two types of memberships:

Non-Paying Member:
Our club does not require you to pay for a membership to come to meetings, join our discord or GroupMe, and participate in our other general fun events. If you are just looking to meet other climbers at CSU, this is a great way to start!

Paying Member:
Dues for the club are $30 for the year. Please Venmo @abigailburns17 after you complete your member registration.
Contact our Treasurer, Abby Burns, on GroupMe if you'd like to pay another way.
What do dues get me?
Your dues allow you to attend all our trips so long as they are not at capacity. You are also provides with dinner and breakfast for our overnight trips. You also receive a rad Alpine Club t-shirt!
How do I sign up for a trip?
Trip sign ups are posted on Fridays, two weeks before the trip in the GroupMe and in the Instagram bio link. All you have to do is fill out the sign up, make sure you have filled out member registration, and paid dues.
Our trips have to have capacities so we will let everyone know if it has been filled. Your spot is not saved unless you have completed member registration and have paid dues.

For some trips, we will consider if you have participated in a trip already or if you have volunteered. We want to make sure everyone has a chance to try to go on a trip!

Participants will be added to a separate GroupMe to sort our logistics and transportation. PLEASE download GroupMe, it is our primary form of communication with members.
I'm new to climbing, can I join?
We encourage all levels of climbers to join. We do not teach any climbing skills, but we can point you to great resources! We will host many trips throughout the semester, some of which will require more knowledge and skills, but we also will offer many other opportunities for newer climbers.
Do I need my own gear?
No! We know climbing gear can be quite expensive and want to include everyone. Our club has own our gear for our trips, including anchors, belay devices, ropes, and boulder pads. The club does not provide personal gear such as helmets, harnesses, and shoes.
If you need these items, you can rent gear from the CSU Outdoor Gear Room or ask your fellow members if you can borrow gear.
Can you teach me to climb?
Unfortunately, we cannot teach you climbing skills. We can recommend many resources, though!
